      The education “Fortification Trail” - an extremely attractive trail for those interested in sightseeing fortifications and learning about the history of the stronghold in Świnoujście.

      The sightseeing starts at the Eastern (Gerhard’s) Fort on the Wolin Island. Than the trail goes along a waterfront battery or “Strandbatterie”; next is the battery command bunker “Forst”. The bunker is an interesting example of the development of the waterfront fortification of the turn of the 19th and 20th c. Another stop is the complex of concrete bunkers of the anti-aircraft battery “Oststrand”, and the waterfront battery “Forst”. The whole complex is a set of unique in Europe architectural facilities. The last stop along the trail is the command bunker “Göben” also known at the “Bell”. It is a characteristic concrete facility, crowned with an openwork steel construction of the tower. While walking towards the Bell we pass next to anti-landing fortifications, precisely the Stronghold area of the 11th Battalion comprising small bunkers for machine guns and trenches strengthened with concrete slabs.
 

      The trail encompasses some of the most interesting historical sites of military architecture on the right-bank side of the city. Along the trail are seven educational boards with pictures and information about particular facilities.
